Solar Seeker 555
Project Description
A solar tracker is a mechanism that improves the productivity of a solar panel module by continuously orienting it towards the sun to receive maximum intensity of light. Solar Seeker 555 is an electromechanical solar tracker that is fully automated yet unprogrammed. The tracker design decomposes the contemporary programmed solar tracking mechanism into an independent oscillation mechanism and stopping mechanism accomplished through an IC 555 controlled magnetic proximity circuit and LDR based switching circuit respectively. As an unprogrammed design, the Solar Seeker 555 was found to be approximately 22% more efficient than most contemporary designs.
