Embedded Walking Stick and Bus Identification System for the visually impaired

Project Description

The project is a bus identification and boarding system for the visually impaired. It uses a radio-frequency based, solely user-triggered system that helps the user to first identify the route number and then enables the user to board the bus using auditory cues from the entrance of bus. Further facilitation of movement is accomplished through an embedded walking stick which contains various sensors for detecting obstructions. Using sensory feedback from interruption sensor and directions from Google Maps, a vibration motor helps a visually impaired person navigate his path to his destination.
